Festive Safety Tips
It is important to take festive safety precautions when you have Christmas decorations up.
Take a look below at some festive safety tips when putting up the Christmas decorations to keep you and your family safe.
When putting up your Christmas tree, make sure it isn’t blocking any exits and make sure it is kept at least 3 feet away from any kind of heat source. If you have an artificial tree, be certain that its labelled, certified or identified by the manufacturer.
Once Christmas is over, ensure you get rid of your tree promptly, as dried-out trees are a major fire hazard. When it comes to disposing of it, you are best to have it taken away by a community service pick up, or take it to a recycling centre.
When purchasing your Christmas lights, make sure you know if your lights are for indoor or outdoor use. When placing them on the tree, ensure you don’t overload sockets. Furthermore, when leaving your home or going to bed, make sure you always turn off the lights.
Making sure all of your decorations are flame-resistant is important and make sure you don’t attach them to any lights or heaters. Furthermore, keep them out of reach of children, as they could be a hazard to them.
