CITB funding is crucial to the success of many construction organisations to enable them to grow via improved workforce skills.
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has announced that it is streamlining its approach to funding for construction training to more effectively help levy-registered employers access financial support for training.
CITB has reviewed its existing provision and is making changes to simplify the way funding is accessed to make it easier for employers.
From 30th September 2025, the CITB Skills and Training Fund will close. From this date, the Employer Network (EN) will become the single channel to access funding.
Alongside the EN, the CITB Grant Scheme will continue to support core construction training needs.
The industry accreditation grant uplift will be removed from 30th December 2025. The grant uplift was put in place when the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) removed the Industry Accreditation CSCS card. The aim was to support individuals who needed to complete a qualification to remain as cardholders. To date, CITB has supported over 11,500 individuals through this route.
CITB had initially intended to keep the uplift in place until March 2026, but to ensure a better use of funds, the uplift will finish at the end of December. Grants which have benefited from the uplift will return to their prior limit of £600.
This initiative, which was originally created to get feedback from the industry as to what training was needed, will also close. Due to Employer Networks (ENs) now being well established, CITB feels there is no further need to duplicate routes to funding.
From September 2025, CITB will introduce a new grant tier for short qualifications to ensure funding is more effectively utilised.
For achievements from September 2025, a qualification achieved at ‘Award’ level will receive a maximum grant of £240. ‘Award’ level qualifications usually run for a shorter duration with fewer modules to complete, and a lower cost. This is reflected in the new grant payment.
