NOTE: You will need approx. 2 years of experience in the role related to this NVQ, and currently be working in a relevant role.

What Does the NVQ Level 5 in Controlling Lifting Operations Cover?

This Level 5 NVQ includes the following mandatory units:

  • Developing and maintaining good occupational working relationships in the workplace
  • Planning lifting activities using cranes and/or lifting equipment in the workplace
  • Planning and establishing health, safety, welfare, and environmental systems for lifting operations in the workplace
  • Planning activities and resources to meet work requirements in the workplace
  • Evaluating and selecting work methods to meet project or operational requirements in the workplace
  • Planning the preparation of the site for the project or operation in the workplace
  • Identifying, allocating and planning the deployment and use of plant, equipment, or machinery in the workplace

To pass the NVQ, you are required to complete each of the units by providing the relevant evidence.

Once you have completed all the units, the assessor will review the portfolio and provide feedback.

After you have responded to the feedback, the assessor will send the portfolio to an IQA, who will decide if the NVQ is complete.

What Happens During the NVQ Level 5 in Controlling Lifting Operations

You will be given an assessor. The assessor will work with you to build a portfolio of evidence via our ePortfolio system Bud.

They will also arrange a remote or on-site induction

The induction is used to plan out how you will gather the relevant evidence to complete the course.

The assessor will also regularly review your progression to ensure that you are keeping on track.

You will be assessed on-site through various methods

Such as observations, written questions, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussion, and witness testimonials.
