CITB works with employers and training providers to improve safety, productivity, and long-term career development across the industry.
CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector in England, Scotland, and Wales.
It’s their job to help the construction industry attract talent and to support skills development, to build a better Britain.
We deliver CITB courses online and across our venues in Blackburn, Derby, Doncaster, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Tamworth, Wigan and online.
There are several routes for funding to help support construction companies, and each route offers different advantages depending on the type of training you’re planning to book:

The CITB levy is a statutory levy paid by construction employers to help fund training and skills development across the industry. The funds collected are reinvested into grants, qualifications, and initiatives that support employers in training their workforce. Eligible companies can claim CITB grant funding to help offset the cost of approved training courses and apprenticeships.
No, CITB and CSCS are not the same, although they are closely linked. CITB is responsible for training standards and qualifications, while CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) issues cards that prove an individual’s qualifications and competence for site access. Many CSCS cards require applicants to pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test as part of the application process.
The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test cannot be taken online. It must be completed at an approved Pearson VUE test centre to ensure the integrity and security of the assessment.
If you have completed a CITB course or passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test, you can access your records through your training provider or the relevant awarding body. In many cases, certificates can be reissued or replaced if they have been lost. You may need to provide personal details, such as your candidate number or date of course completion, to request a replacement copy.
The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test typically consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. The questions cover a range of topics, including health and safety, environmental awareness, and hazard prevention relevant to construction work.
If you have any questions or need assistance you can contact us below and one of our friendly team will get back to you.
