CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO)

Ensuring construction workers receive the world-class training they deserve

As a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO), we’re proud to say that our CITB construction and health and safety courses meet the criteria expected by CITB, as well as the wider construction sector.

CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO) is a training provider that has been accredited by the CITB to deliver training courses that meet specific standards set by the board.

ATOs play a crucial role in ensuring that construction workers receive high-quality training that is recognised within the industry.

At 3B Training, we offer a wide range of courses that fall under the three types of training covered by the ATO scheme. The three types of training are:

  • Assured courses– these are short duration courses that are delivered to the CITB training standard.
  • CITB products– these are courses such as SMSTS and SSSTS that are accredited by CITB.
  • Recognised products– these are training courses and qualifications accredited by other awarding bodies such as City & Guilds or PASMA.
Maintaining accurate training records

As an ATO we submit the necessary information to the CITB Construction Training Register (CTR) after each course. This ensures that accurate training records are maintained for construction workers which also means our clients receive their CITB grant payments as quickly as possible.

We can also help our clients apply for CITB funding for awards of money which you can spend on training your workforce.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Why is it important to book training with a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO)?
Why is it important to book training with a CITB Approved Training Organisation (ATO)?

CITB has determined which courses are eligible for grants, if you’re an employer in the construction industry you can use this guide to claim grants when your employees attend these courses. To be able to do this, your organisation must be registered with CITB and you need to book your training with an ATO. Otherwise, in future, you will not be able to claim for eligible courses delivered by companies who are not ATOs.

Approved Training Organisations are required to upload delegate achievements to the CITB Construction Training Register within 10 days of successful completion of an eligible training course. This upload then triggers your grant payment.

To upload the achievements, 3B Training requires the following delegate information:

    • Name Address
    • DOB
    • Email address
    • NI number
    • CITB Levy number

This can either be recorded at the time of booking or by completing the paperwork at the start of the course.

Unfortunately, ATOs are not currently able to do this for all courses that are grant eligible. For example, 3B Training can’t upload achievements for…

In these instances, employers need to complete a claim themselves.

  • What is the Construction Training Register (CTR)?

The CITB Construction Training Register is an online database of construction workers that employers can access to check their achievements. This is where training providers upload achievements following course completion. Here, you can see the training that your employees (or potential employees) have completed. If you’re already signed up to use CITB’s online services you can request access to the CTR. If you’re not already signed up to online services, you need to do that first.

  • What is the Construction Training Directory (CTD)?

The CITB Construction Training Directory (CTD) is where you can search for training courses that are scheduled to be delivered by Approved Training Organisations. You can also find their venue and contact details.

Only Approved Training Organisations have access to advertise their training dates on the training directory.
