The Blue Competent Operator Card is available to those who work as a plant machine operator and have completed the relevant qualifications and tests.

This qualification is for operatives in the construction sector who are looking to work on the piece of plant machinery of their choosing.
This qualification is for site supervisors who oversee the lifting of materials or plant on a construction project.
This qualification is for site operatives who are in charge of planning lifting operations with the use of cranes and other lifting equipment.
As well as completing an NVQ you must also pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test. In the period of 2 years of completing your NVQ and test, you must also complete the CPCS theory test. Finally, within six months of the theory, you must complete the CPCS practical.
Upon obtaining the Blue Card you will also get a CPCS logbook. With the logbook, operators can compile their learning and evidence in it before the next renewal.
