At 3B Training, we recognise that delegates have different preferences—some thrive in a classroom, while others prefer online courses. We want our training courses to suit all styles of learning – this is where blended learning comes in.
In this blog, we discuss what blending learning is and the benefits this style of learning has for NEBOSH delegates.
NEBOSH Blending Learning is an alternative style of learning to the classroom course for NEBOSH qualifications.
Blended learning combines a mixture of learning styles, such as remote learning, eLearning, or distance learning. Unlike a standalone eLearning course, blended learning requires the physical presence of a trainer in some form. Although this is the case, some elements of the learning can be completed over time by the delegates.
In some circumstances, delegates might decide to replace classroom study with online learning (webinars and video chat). This form of delivery allows flexibility to balance their studies with work or personal commitments. By combining self-paced online modules with scheduled in-person or live sessions, NEBOSH blended learning helps delegates retain information more effectively.
At 3B Training, we offer the NEBOSH General Certificate as a blended learning course, giving the delegate more control over their studies.
NEBOSH blended learning allows delegates to study in their own time, offering flexibility as well as support through experienced trainers and self-study through provided course materials/textbooks. Delegates will also have a support folder, filled with example questions, NEBOSH policies and guidance.
Delegates must complete an open-book examination to pass the NG1 Unit. They can access the exam from anywhere and have 24 hours to complete it. Alongside this, trainers will have video calls with the delegate where they can discuss aspects of the course. These calls are 1-hour long, and each delegate will be provided with five call sessions. Delegates must complete a risk assessment as part of NG2, just as in a standard NEBOSH course.
There are a number of benefits that blended learning offers compared to other styles of training. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of blended learning:
NEBOSH eLearning differs from blended learning in that it offers largely independent study with minimal interaction, while blended learning includes regular delegate check-ins and calls from the course trainer.
Both of these options offer flexibility, which is great for delegates who need to fit their studies around commitments. eLearning can be completed fully at the delegate’s pace, allowing modules to be completed at any time, whereas blended learning offers this only partially as it is more flexible than classroom training but less fully self-paced because of those fixed interaction points with trainers.
For large groups of delegates, elearning offers consistent course content which is identical for everyone who purchases the eLearning. Blended learning also provides a level of consistency, as resources are the same for all delegates, but it isn’t guaranteed to be 100% consistent due to the trainer’s live input and interaction.
With our NEBOSH eLearning, exams are not included and must be booked separately. Our blended learning option has self-paced study, with an open-book exam.
