Since securing a Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) contract to develop and deliver rainscreen façade systems training in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, we are proud to announce the details of a new nationwide training programme aimed at upskilling installers and supervisors across the sector.
An expert steering group, which brings together leading voices from two tier-one construction contractors, a façade specialist, a trade association and CITB, is supporting our in-house team to develop course content, assessments and delivery materials.
Plus, as part of a pilot scheme, we have now opened bookings for the training for a first wave of courses in 2026.
This scheme comes amid fresh government figures on the pace of remediation. According to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s latest data release for buildings of 11 metres and above in England, remediation works have been completed on 35% of the 5,554 buildings identified up to the end of August 2025, with work underway on a further 13%.
Under the Remediation Acceleration Plan, ministers have set a target to remediate all buildings 18 metres and over by 2029. Work has now concluded on 90% of the 511 buildings identified with unsafe ACM cladding, yet between 3,300 and 3,500 dwellings remain to be remediated and local authorities are pursuing enforcement action against owners to drive progress.
Despite these figures, The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has released a building control GW2 update which demonstrates initial positive impacts on application processes for new high-rise residential buildings.
BSR is currently progressing 152 live new build applications, representing 33,670 housing units across England. An additional 253 live remediation applications are also being processed, covering an estimated 22,304 housing units.
The steering group has been meeting regularly and will continue to scrutinise course content against evolving regulation and site practice for installers and supervisors.
Mathew Bewley, Managing Director at 3B Training, said. “By combining classroom learning with practical assessment and ongoing industry input, we’re helping dutyholders meet their obligations and keep residents safe.
“Our role is to ensure this content is technically robust, up to date with the regulatory landscape, and directly applicable on site.”
Bookings are now open for the initial schedule with Rainscreen Cladding Installer and Rainscreen Cladding Supervisor courses to be run in Blackburn, Doncaster, Derby, and Glasgow.
The programme focuses on correct specification and installation of rainscreen cladding systems, fire performance including cavity barriers and interfaces, inspection and supervision procedures, legal duties and competence under the Building Safety Act regime, and practical on‑rig assessments to evidence competence.
Full course information, dates, and times can be found below and booked now.
