NVQ Level 3 in Plastering is a competency-based qualification for learners who work in the construction sector. The qualification is intended to show that you have the appropriate knowledge to carry out your role.
You also choose optional and additional units to gain the minimum credit value of the qualification.
You will be assigned an assessor. The assessor will work with you to produce a portfolio for the qualification.
You will also have an induction with your assessor. The induction can be completed on-site or remotely if needed. The assessor will organise regular review meetings with you for additional support and track your progress.
You will be assessed through various methods, such as observations, evidence generated from the workplace, witness testimonials, professional discussions and written questions on site.
To pass the NVQ, you must collect all the evidence needed to achieve each unit. The assessor will then go through the completed portfolio and give any feedback.
Once you acknowledged the feedback, the portfolio will then go to an IQA. The IQA will decide whether the qualification is complete or if any additional evidence is needed.
Once the NVQ has been achieved, you will be qualified to apply for the Gold CSCS Card. This card is used to prove that they can conduct your role at a high level.
You will also be issued a certificate. The certificate is a lifelong qualification that does not expire and doesn’t need to be renewed.

The NVQ length depends on how quickly you can gather the relevant evidence for each unit. You can complete the qualification at your own pace and around your work schedule.
Learners who complete the qualification quickly tend to have the evidence prepared before enrolling.
Plasterers who work in the construction sector looking to obtain a Gold CSCS Card or Advanced Craft Card should take this course.
Those who hold the Gold CSCS Card can show that they are a highly skilled worker and can work competently in their role. By possessing this card, you will be putting yourself ahead of other skilled operatives when looking for work or progressing in your current role.
The NVQ will assess your competence in your current job role, so you must be working as a full-time plasterer to enrol.
You must also be 16 or over to take the course.
If we find that you are unsuitable for the qualification, we will find an alternative that better suits your credentials and occupation.
