NVQ Level 2 in Formwork (Construction)
The Level 2 NVQ in Formwork is a competence-based qualification. The qualification is designed to show that the learner has the relevant knowledge to be able to conduct their role.
How long does it take to complete the NVQ?
The duration of the course is dependant on how quickly the learner can gather the relevant evidence.

Site operatives in a formwork related role who are aiming to gain the Blue CSCS Card or Skilled Worker Card
Is the course accredited?
Yes, the course is accredited by either ProQual or Pearson Edexcel accredited
NVQs are available to learners across the nation. Learners or companies booking on their behalf can book an NVQ over the phone, via email or our website online.
Upon enrollment, the learner will be allocated an assessor who will assist the learner in building a portfolio. The assessor will conduct an on-site induction with the learner, this can also be done remotely if favoured.
During the induction, the assessor will plan how they will assemble all the relevant evidence to gain their qualification. This will be followed up with regular reviews to make that the learner is on track.
The qualification will assess a learner’s competence in their current job role. Therefore the learner must be 16 or above and be working as a Formwork Construction Site Operative.

What does the NVQ Level 2 in Formwork course cover?
The qualification is appraised through a variety of different forms of evidence which is provided by the learner. The learner must gather evidence of:
- Erecting and Striking Timber and Proprietary Formwork
- Conforming to the General Health, Safety and Welfare
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources
- Fabricating and Maintaining Timber and Proprietary Formwork Systems
- Conforming to the Productive Working Practices

On completion of the qualification, the learner will be able to show that they are knowledgable and competent in their field.
What is Required to Pass the NVQ Level 2 in Formwork course?
Delegates will need to achieve all of their required units to show that they have the competency to qualify. Their work will then be examined by the assessor and fed back to them. Once the feedback has been responded to, the portfolio will go to an IQA. The IQA will have the concluding decision on whether any additional evidence is needed or if the qualification is complete.
Is this course CITB Grant claimable?
Upon achievement of the NVQ, the learner will be able to apply for their Blue Skilled Worker. This card will show that the individual has the relevant knowledge to be conducting their role.
Construction workers should have a basic level of safety training. To ensure they they are safe on site they should improve their knowledge by attending the First Aid at Work, UKATA Asbestos Awareness and Face Fit Testing.
