NVQ Level 2 Plastering in Construction course content

Once you have been registered, we will appoint you an assessor. The assessor will support you in developing your portfolio during the qualification. Then they will carry out an induction, this can be completed on-site or remotely.

Throughout the induction, the assessor will assist you in planning out how you can gather all the evidence required to complete the qualification. They will also continually evaluate your progress to ensure that you on track and to check if you need any guidance.

You will be assessed on-site through a variety of methods, such as professional discussion, written questions, witness testimonials, observations and evidence generated from the workplace.

You must gather evidence for:

  • Adhering to general health, safety and welfare
  • Conforming to productive working practices
  • Moving, handling and storing resources
  • Applying finishing plaster to prepared surfaces in the
  • Producing internal solid plastering finishes
  • Applying solid render to background surfaces and
    producing finishes
  • Installing direct bond dry lining systems
  • Laying sand and cement screeds
  • Applying projection plaster and render, and maintaining
  • Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard

You will need to achieve all of the units to show that you are competent enough to hold the NVQ qualification. The assessor will then examine your work and present any feedback. Once you have returned your feedback, an IQA will then receive your portfolio. The IQA will have the final decision on whether the qualification is complete or if any additional evidence is needed.

How long is a NVQ Level 2 Plastering in Construction?

The course length is dependant on how quickly you can collect the required evidence.

The NVQ can be completed at your own pace. If you have all the evidence prepared, you can finish it pretty quickly. It is also ideal if you need to fit the qualification around your schedule, as it can be completed in your own time.

Why should I take this course?

Plasterers who work in the construction industry who are looking to obtain their Blue CSCS Card or Skilled Worker card should attend this course. The skills card is used as proof that you are qualified to be conducting your role.

Having an NVQ can be very beneficial as it holds a lot of weight in the industry as a recognised qualification. Employers and customers will favour those with an NVQ and a blue CSCS card when looking for plasterers.

A Level 2 NVQ is an ideal qualification if you are new to the industry or are looking for a gateway into construction. The qualification will give you the “on the job experience you” need to learn; whilst also covering the theory content that you need.

NVQ Level 2 Plastering in Construction entry requirements

The qualification will assess your ability in your current job role, so you must be working as a Plasterer to complete the NVQ.

You must also be at least the age of 16 to enrol.

Where can I complete this course?

Learners from across the country can enrol onto an NVQ with 3B Training. Yourself or a company booking on your behalf can book an NVQ via our website online or over the phone.

The majority of the NVQ can be completed by you. Any other units will need to be reviewed by your assessor at your workplace.

Is this course accredited?

The NVQ can be either ProQual or GQA accredited.

Both awarding bodies provide vocational qualifications for the construction and civil engineering sector. Their qualifications are continually reviewed, to ensure that they are up to date and relevant for their learners.

Further development

On completion of the qualification, you will receive an NVQ certificate and be able to apply for your Skilled Worker Card. This card will be evidence of your proven competence. A Level 2 NVQ is a lifelong qualification that does not need to be renewed.

Further qualifications for a construction plasterer include the NVQ Level 3 in Plastering (Construction). This NVQ is the next step up if you are taking on extra responsibility in your role.

Is this course CITB Grant claimable?
