The NVQ Level 2 in Plastering Solid qualification is designed for learners who have a plastering role in the construction sector. The qualification is intended to assess the learner’s ability to work competently in their occupation to standard an acceptable standard.

Approx. 9 – 18 months

Plasterers who work within the construction industry

Course Content

NVQ Level 2 in Plastering

The learner will be assessed on site through a variety of methods, such as professional discussion, written questions, witness testimonials, observations and evidence generated from the workplace. The course structure features the below mandatory units:

  • Handling and moving resources in the workplace
  • Conforming to general safety in the workplace
  • Conforming to efficient working practices in the workplace

If the learner wants to follow the (Solid – Basic) pathway; learners must complete the below mandatory units:

  • Applying finishing plaster to background surfaces in the workplace

They must also choose from the below (Solid Basic) optional units in order to gain the qualifications minimum credit value.

  • Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard in the workplace
  • Producing internal solid plastering finishes in the workplace
  • Producing external solid render finishes in the workplace
  • Applying projection plaster and maintaining equipment in the workplace
  • Installing direct bond dry linings in the workplace
  • Laying sand and cement screeds to levels and/or falls in the workplace

If you would like to go down the (Solid – Full) pathway you will need to complete the below mandatory units:

  • Producing external solid render finishes in the workplace
  • Producing internal solid plastering finishes in the workplace

You will also choose from the option of (Solid – Full) optional units to gain enough credits to have the minimum requirement.

  • Installing direct bond dry linings in the workplace
  • Applying projection plaster and maintaining equipment in the workplace
  • Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard in the workplace
  • Applying finishing plaster to background surfaces in the workplace
  • Laying sand and cement screeds to levels and/or falls in the workplace

Entry Requirements

Learners must be at least the age of 16 and working in an occupation in which they can complete the qualification. Before being authorised of your enrolment onto the qualification the learner must complete a questionnaire and an informal discussion.
