Install Rainscreen Façade Systems Course Overview

This in-depth four-day course is provided as part of a pilot scheme in conjunction with CITB.

Each day of the course is being developed in line with the following CITB training standards:
1. Install open & closed state cavity barriers
2. Install Carrier Systems
3. Install Rainscreen Facade Systems
4. Inspect backing walls to receive rainscreen facade systems

The pilot will run over 12 months from January 2026. Courses will be FREE to attend, but there will be limited places available.

What you’ll learn

The Rainscreen Façade Systems Installer course will provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to correctly cut and adjust rainscreen panels prior to fitting, such as vapour barriers/breather membranes and insultation.

We can arrange in-house delivery for the Install Rainscreen Cladding training course.

The course can be arranged at a 3B Training venue or on a site of your choosing (provided the necessary space and practical requirements are met).

This delivery option is ideal if you need training for a group from the same company.

Install Rainscreen Façade Systems Course Content

The in-depth four-day course will cover:

Day 1 – Install open & closed state cavity barriers

  • Identifying and using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task
  • Adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible working practices
  • Identifying and safely using hand tools for the task
  • Identification and safe use of power tools, levelling instruments and equipment for the task
  • Interpret sources of information for the task
  • Select the required quantity and quality of resources
  • Installing cavity barriers in rainscreen façade systems, to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Task to be undertaken on completion of the installation of cavity barriers.

 

Day 2 – Install Carrier Systems

  • Identifying and using the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task
  • Adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible working practices
  • Identifying and safely using hand tools for the task or activity
  • Identification and safe use of power tools, levelling instruments and equipment for the task
  • Interpreting sources of information for the task.

 

Day 3 – Install Rainscreen Facade Systems

  • Identify and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task
  • Adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible working practices
  • Identifying and safely using hand tools for the task
  • Identification and safe use of power tools, levelling instruments and equipment for the task
  • Interpreting sources of information for the task
  • Selecting the required quantity and quality of materials, components and specialised fixings for compatible materials
  • Cutting and forming internal and external angles
  • Securing and installing rainscreen façade system materials to the carrier system
  • Demonstrating how to use appropriate fixings and fasteners
  • Explaining the purpose and use of different types of insulation and their attachment
  • Explain the purpose and use of air and vapour control layers and of breather membranes
  • Checking and recording quality, setting out and accuracy of work on completion, at a hold point and at the end of each working period.

 

Day 4 – Install backing walls to receive rainscreen facade systems

  • Identify and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task
  • Adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible working practices
  • Identifying and the safe use of hand tools for the task
  • Identification and safe use of power tools, levelling instruments and equipment for the task
  • How to interpret sources of information for the task
  • Selecting the required quantity and quality of resources
  • Measuring and checking alignment of penetrations, apertures and reveals through the wall
  • Checking seals to joints and reveals are intact
  • Checking location of brackets and components
  • How to line and level to gridlines and datum marks
  • Confirming the position and location of attachment points for the support grid.

    The Rainscreen Cladding Installer course is delivered over 4-days.

  • Do I need to attend all four days of the course?

    Yes, delegates will need to attend all four days of the training.

  • Are there any pre-requisites to attend this course?

    There are no delegate pre-requisites as part of this training. However, a basic knowledge of rainscreen façade systems, terminology and techniques would be beneficial.

  • Is there an assessment for this course?

    For the successful completion of the course, delegates must complete four multiple-choice assessments with a minimum pass mark of 80%, in addition to an ongoing practical assessment.

  • How long after the course will I receive my certificate?

    Certificates will be issued 6-8 weeks after course completion.

  • How long is the Rainscreen Cladding Installer certificate valid?

    The Rainscreen Cladding Installer certificate is valid for 5 years after completion. After which, you will need to renew your training.

  • Are assessments available in languages other than English?

    Assessments are only available in English.
