Seddon
About Seddon
Seddon is one of the country’s leading construction contractors. They have the capability and resources to deliver all types of building projects. They are a family-owned, business that spans three centuries and five generations. Seddon aims to be the “go to” contractor for their customer’s construction needs; they pride themselves on innovation, performance, quality and integrity. The company began in 1897 in Little Hulton near Manchester and now delivers over £160 million of building projects across the UK and employs nearly 800 people.
Seddon and 3B Training
3B Training has been working with Seddon for over three years. They have provided training to over 500 delegates on over 800 courses. They work mostly with the construction sector of the company but have also provided training for Seddon Homes. Seddon Homes are the property refurbishment sector of the business.
3B has an excellent relationship with Seddon and we aim to provide any training they require. Recently a large number of Seddon employees needed CSCS cards. They needed the cards in order to show they had competent health and safety knowledge to be on site. 3B provided and maintained a CSCS card matrix for them. This significantly increased the number of delegates holding a valid card; we then handed the system back over to them so they had a clear idea on their employees’ card expiry dates.
3B Training has also worked with Seddon on a charity scheme called the Renov8 project in Bolton. 3B and Seddon teamed up with Bolton Lads and Girls Club on a project to help young people who were not in employment. The scheme allowed the participants to gain first-hand experience of working on a live construction project. The project saw a four-bedroom, end terrace in Bolton get a complete transformation. It included taking down internal walls, replacing the flooring, fitting new windows and doors.
The next project the house was decorated and sold. The team was made up of more than 100 unemployed youngsters and Site Manager, Gerrard Carter, who was there to offer first-hand advice and support throughout. 3B Training delivered a number of training sessions to the team and helped them to gain their CSCS cards which not only helped them to complete the project but allowed a number of the team to gain employment.
A quote from the client
Seddon’s Training and Development Manager Tony Costello said “Since starting work with 3B I have been impressed by the attention to detail and general work ethic. Nothing is too much trouble. I issue a training request and get back answers, solutions and prices. As a company, we have used 3B many times and will continue to do so. So many companies promise you the world but never deliver… 3B delivers. I have no problems recommending 3B as a knowledgeable and quality service provider.”
