PASMA Training Course Options

At 3B Training, we deliver accredited PASMA training courses designed to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to safely assemble, use, and dismantle mobile access towers. Our courses are ideal for anyone who works at height using mobile scaffolding, including operatives, supervisors, and site managers.

PASMA training covers key topics such as risk assessment, tower construction, inspection, safe working practices, and dismantling procedures. Delegates gain practical, hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced instructors, ensuring they are confident and competent when working on site.

Our PASMA courses can be delivered at our training centres, online, or as in-house training tailored specifically for your team. Completion of a PASMA course provides a recognised certificate, helping organisations comply with health and safety legislation and reduce the risk of falls when working on mobile access towers.

  • What does IPAF 3a and 3b cover?

Our IPAF 3a and 3b training course teaches delegates how to operate MEWPs, including aerial work platforms, trailer mounted boom lifts and scissor lifts.

  • What is PASMA training?

PASMA training covers all the information you need to know on how to assemble, dismantle, and move mobile access towers safely.

  • How long does IPAF training last?

IPAF training typically lasts half a day to two days, depending on the type of platform and whether the delegate is attending the theory, practical, or combined course. The training includes both classroom and practical elements, ensuring learners gain hands-on experience operating the equipment safely. Upon successful completion, delegates receive a PAL Card valid for five years.

  • What is IPAF training?

IPAF training is a certified programme designed to ensure safe use of powered access equipment, such as mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and cherry pickers. The course covers legal responsibilities, operational procedures, hazard identification, and safe working practices. Completing IPAF training provides delegates with a recognised PAL Card, which demonstrates competency to operate MEWPs safely.

  • Do you need PASMA to use a scaffold?

You do not need PASMA training to use a fixed scaffold, but it is highly recommended if you are assembling, using, or dismantling mobile access towers. PASMA training ensures that operatives understand safe practices specific to mobile towers, which have different hazards compared with fixed scaffolding. Employers often require PASMA certification for anyone working on mobile access towers.

  • Do you need PASMA to work on a tower?

Yes, anyone who assembles, dismantles, or works on a mobile access tower should complete a PASMA training course. This ensures competence in safe tower setup, use, inspection, and dismantling. Completion of PASMA training reduces the risk of falls, promotes compliance with health and safety legislation, and is widely recognised by employers as essential for tower work.
